37-Acre Yoga Retreat and Rainforest Estate

Description

This exceptional 37-acre property in Platanillo de Barú represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully realized nature-centered estate that seamlessly integrates residential living, wellness hospitality, and environmental stewardship. Spanning approximately 15 hectares of pristine primary rainforest, the property is home to thriving plantations of more than 25 bamboo species, mature and productive fruit orchards, wild edible mushrooms, and medicinal trees. A striking ecological centerpiece is a magnificent 450-year-old ceiba tree, a natural monument that embodies the landscape's richness and spiritual significance. The established yoga and meditation retreat center serves as the heart of the estate, featuring a dedicated yoga pavilion with an elevated massage room and a beautifully maintained ceremonial circle. Two additional yoga platforms are nestled within the rainforest, offering immersive settings for practice and reflection. The property includes 11 individually designed homes and cottages, each thoughtfully positioned to maximize privacy while remaining connected through an extensive network of walking trails winding through lush gardens, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. The main residence commands sweeping mountain views and enjoys year-round refreshing breezes. Additional amenities include two treehouses and two greenhouses that support both the landscape's productivity and recreational enjoyment. Every structure has been designed by local architects and skilled artisans with an emphasis on harmony with the tropical environment. Construction employs high-quality hardwoods, treated bamboo, and concrete, selected for durability, functionality, and ease of maintenance—creating a cohesive built environment that complements rather than dominates the natural surroundings. Platanillo de Barú offers convenient access to regional attractions: waterfalls including the renowned Diamante Waterfall (Costa Rica's tallest) are accessible within a 15-minute radius, and a scenic 15-minute drive down the mountain reaches the Pacific coastline for surfing, whale watching, and other outdoor pursuits. The nearby communities provide essential services including supermarkets, restaurants, a farmers' market, medical clinic, and organic food stores. This property presents distinctive possibilities as a private estate, nature-focused wellness retreat, or hospitality venture, offering the rare combination of ecological abundance, established facilities, and contemplative living spaces.
